THERMAL SPRAY
Thermal spraying techniques consist of a heat source such as an arc or flame and a coating material, typically in a powder or wire form, that is melted into small droplets and sprayed onto surfaces at high velocity.
Thermal spray coatings are usually applied to metal substrates and are sometimes applied to plastic or ceramic base materials. They enhance the performance of the component by providing improved wear resistance, corrosion resistance or thermal protection, and are a versatile and effective alternative to other coating methods. Thermal spray coatings are distinguished by their abilities to apply metals, cermets, ceramics, and polymers with minimal porosity and very high bond strengths without melting or substantially heating the substrate.
Coating quality is usually evaluated by measuring porosity, oxide content, macro and micro-hardness, residual stress, and bond strength. As the particle velocities increase, the coating quality usually increases as well.

ABRASIVE
WHITE ALUMINIUM OXIDE
Megacubes provides high quality of white fused aluminium which is contains virtually no iron content making it a safe abrasive for applications that require minimal foreign contamination. This allows white aluminum oxide to be used in applications such as blasting orthopedic implant parts, aerospace components, or exotic alloys. White aluminum oxide can be found in a variety of bonded abrasives used in surface or cylindrical grinding. General industry applications for white aluminum oxide include abrasive blasting, microdermabrasion, anti-skid surfaces, and lapping.
Megacubes provides the perfect glass bead every time which is the goal of the Potters’ glass bead manufacturing process. The perfect glass bead an exact sphere, pure and clear offers strength in its perfect roundness, and optimum reflective qualities in its purity and clarity. The manufacture of glass beads is different from most other glass, mainly because there is no molten batch. Potters uses soda lime cullet, which is ground and sorted into basic sizes before introducing it to the furnace. The beads are actually formed in a hot furnace atmosphere. Pre-sized ground cullet is gravity-fed into the proprietary Potters’-designed, gas-fired furnace.
The intense heat melts the ground glass while it is suspended in the burning gas, forming a sphere. The sphere is carried upward from the heat zone by the products of combustion that form a natural draught. Immediately upon exiting the heat zone, the spheres enter a large cooling zone where they are collected and transferred for further sizing, grading, coating and packaging.
